Beware of the battery and Bosch after-sales service

Amazon: Ten out of Ten for for ultra-speedy delivery.
Bosch: Zero out of Ten for a rubbish product and even worse after-sales service. Despite repeated attempts by two people - separately and together, the battery could not be detached from the unit, rendering the whole thing useless. A telephone call to the Bosch after-sales team to enquire if there was some secret knack revealed that they'd all gone home early (call was made to their premium rate 0844 number at 4.50pm Friday, connected to the department a few minutes later, and a recorded message then told me that they were closed and to call between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday - disgraceful!). |

| An excellent product; but as in some other reviews I have read the three lever safety system is fiddly to use and to my mind over the top; the two lever system as on other models is more than adequate. |

| We are really happy with this purchase. We recently purchased a property with an incredibly overgrown garden and this hedgecutter has been fully put to the test and come through with flying colours. Very easy to use, cuts through branches about a thumb thick with relative ease. We toyed with buying the larger model, but glad we didn't as this one does the job perfectly well. Easy to use, not too heavy and the battery out lasts me - we just charge it after every use. Great product, would definately recommend. |
easy hedgecutting!

| This item is very light compared to my old petrol model, making it more manageable for me. It is not as powerful as the petrol model but quite adequate for moderate jobs. I dont think it would be suitable for a very large area. I found it a bit flimsy at first but now love it. |
Lightweight, Powerful because smart. Couple of small ergonomic issues.

Great machine. As light as it could probably get until the light-sabre version comes out! The stroke-of-genius feature that rapidly and repeatedly reverses the drive when it detects an overload means that it will cut most things that will go between the teeth. It sounds a little clackety, but hey, it works.
I see other reviewers have struggled to get the battery out. Yes, it is a knack. But for me there is another ergonomic feture that nearly lost it its fifth star. There are the usual two switch mechanisms to squeeze to turn it on - fine. Unlike previous cutters I have had, the front one has a separate safety latch (perhaps a new H&S rule). This does not automaticaly enage as you grip the unit, it has to be positively rolled backwards. Another knack to learn. Those with high hedges will know that it often helps to use the cutter upside-down to get a flatter cut on the top. It is particularly easy to fail to engage the safety latch in this mode - leaving you wondering why it does not start. But still, a great tool. |
