Reviewer: tonythia,
WE HAD LOOKED AT ALL THE REVIEWS FOR DIFFERENT BIKE TRAILERS FOR SOMETIME AND THEN WE DECIDED ON THIS ONE AS WE ONLY HAVE A SMALL CAR BOOT THIS FITS PERFECT IN OURS, NO BIGGER THAN A NORMAL SIZE PUSHCHAIR AND IT WAS GREAT THAT IT COULD BE CONVERTED INTO ONE AS WELL. WE HAD ALREADY BOUGHT A SEAT FOR THE BACK OF THE BIKE BUT WANTED A TRAILER FOR LONGER BIKE RIDES SO OUR DAUGHTER 18 MONTHS COULD HAPPILY GO TO SLEEP IN IT, WHICH SHE DID.

OVER ALL WE ARE VERY HAPPY BUT WE DO HAVE A FEW DISSAPOINTMENTS. THE FIRST TIME WE USED IT THE RAIN CAME DOWN HARD BEFORE WE SET OFF, WERE THE CHILDS FEET GO THIS BECAME VERY WET WITH WATER RUNNIG DOWN INTO A PUDDLE.TO SOLVE THIS I HAD AN IDEAR TO PUT THE RAIN COVER OF THE PUSHCHAIR ON TO IT WHICH FITS QUITE WELL BUT THIS DOES STILL HAPPEN BECAUSE IT MUST BE WERE THE WATER SPRAY OF THE ROAD SOAKES IN THE CANVAS.

WHEN YOU DO USE IT AS A PUSHCHAIR IT WOULD BE GREAT IF THEY HAD OF ADDED SOME TYPE OF BRAKE FOR THE WHEELS WHEN YOU NEED TO STOP ON A SLOPE.

OVER ALL THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT AND WELL WORTH THE MONEY.
Great Trailer

Reviewer: Stu,
I read many reviews before deciding to buy this trailer & have been very pleased with it so far. It's very quick to unfold & attach to the bike, & is very well made. I've used it on cycle paths, cross country tracks & on the road too. It takes them all in it's stride & rolls along very well indeed. The only time you notice it's there, is when going up hills, but I guess you'd notice ANY trailer in those circumstances!
There is a large-ish storage area behind the child seat which is certainly large enough for a picnic, drinks waterproofs & teddy etc. The only negatives I can find with the trailer, is that the straps are a little fiddly to adjust in the first instance, but easy to use thereafter & the bracket which attaches to the bike is only really suited to bikes with a flat tail flange, not drop-outs like on My Orange P7 Pro. That said, it was easily modified with a small file :-)
To summarise: An excellent quality trailer at an excellent price which is easy to tow. Far better quality than a 'spokey Joe' without the rip-off price of a 'Charriot'... BUY ONE!!
Good, but room for imporvement

I bought this trailer last week and have had it out with the little one a couple of times. Overall we're both happy with it but it's not getting the five stars I would have liked to rate it. There are a few minor niggles which could so easily have been improved.
Firstly, the trailer is recommended for children from 18 months old but the fitted harness is much too big for my toddler (18 months in a couple of weeks). The shoulder straps are too far apart and the crotch strap is far too long. When we had a trial run around the garden, my youngster ended up almost lying flat due to sliding forwards in the harness. The solution we came up with involved folding the crotch strap over on itself and running a stitch across it, reducing its length by a couple of inches. The shoulder straps are a bit trickier to sort. If the manufacturers had included an adjustable strap across the chest (like a rucksack) this would stop the shoulder straps sliding down the arms of the smaller passengers.
Secondly, as identified by another reviewer, there are two bolts on the frame one of which snags on the tyre. The tyres are smaller than advertised (not 20 inch diameter) and I suspect that this only became a problem when the wheel size was reduced. The solution is fairly staightforward, simply remove the bolts and replace them with the nut on the inside of the frame. A ring spanner and an allen key is all you need. Still annoying that Bumper couldn't have figured this one out before shipping.
Thirdly, the push bar attachment to convert the trailer to a buggy has afterthought written all over it. The minute you attach this to the frame it scratches the paint finish on the frame. Again, a simple neoprene insert in the connecting clamp would have protected the frame and also given a tighter fit.
Ok, that's the bad stuff. On the positive side we're generally happy with the trailer after my customising measures. It feels well balanced, the coupling to the bike is a piece of cake, it's easy to pull and steer, (one important thing to remember is to take sharp u-turns to the left as the coupling on the rear wheel axle is on the left) and it's easy to assemble and fold back up again. The small person appears to fully enjoy the ride, even over rough forest tracks, and spent most of the journey happily looking through some of her books and singing. We haven't encountered inclement weather yet so check out other reviews for rain protection etc.
There are many much more expensive trailers on the market (and a couple cheaper) but this is the first I have bought and really have no direct comparison I can make, however I think this trailer represents good value for money. The six hundred quid models were beyond our budget anyway and I wouldn't necessarily have paid more for a badge. We bought this purely for leisure purposes, ie weekends and days out in country parks, forests etc. It's not intended for daily commuting on public roads. (I'm not a believer in taking small children along the Queen's highways on bicycles - too many bad motorists, too many cars, too much pollution blah, blah)
Bumper, whoever you are, sort out the little snags, keep the build quality and the price and you'll have five star reviews. The bairn can't count to five yet but I'm sure she'd agree.

Having read the excellent reviews on this kid's buggy, I was eagerly anticipating a stylish, solidly built quality product at a reasonable price. My illusions were shattered as soon as I tried to attach one of the wheels ( I used to work as a cycle mechanic in case anyone is thinking that perhaps I'm just a mechanical simpleton). There must have been a good half a centimeter of play once attached, making for a very wobbly wheel which can't be adjusted. The other wheel I just simply couldn't fix on at all. Hoping that this was just a one off, I ordered a replacement, which Amazon very kindly sent out express class. This time the wheels went on ok, but it would have been better if they hadn't, for one sat far too close to the chassis, ensuring problems with friction whilst in motion, whilst on the other side the wheel sat with an ugly looking tilt, not at all parallel with the chassis. Swapping the wheels around produced the same result.
As we were going on holiday, I decided to give the buggy one more go, after all, third time lucky and all that. It arrived next day by special delivery, but 5 minutes later I was standing looking at a buggy just as defective as the previous two had been. One wheel sat just millimeters from the chassis, with a protruding nut pressing against the tyre, whilst on the other side the distance between the wheel and the chassis was about an inch. Again, swapping wheels did not alter things.

The problem is obviously a manufacturing fault, and if I had three defects in a row, then how many more are there? All I can say in its favor, is that it looks great until you put the wheels on. But what any parent wants when they are transporting their kids in one of these things, is something that has been built well, and something they can trust. I would give the Bumper explorer solo buggy 1 out of 10 for both of these I'm afraid.
