I've been using this pump twice a day for about 6 months now and the only problem I've had is detatching the electric motor from the rest of the device. My husband seems to have no problem with this but I always felt I had to force it and I've broken two of them in the process... fortunatly they have a year's guarentee and we've had no problems getting them replaced each time - and now I let my husband take it apart for me!!
As a pump it works great, it's comfortable to use, you can control the rate, it works reasonably fast (I can do 4oz in 20mins easily - although, to be honest, after discussion with other Mums, I think flow rate can be as much a personal thing as anything to do with the pump you're using) and best of all it's compatable with everything else (and I do mean EVERYTHING else) in the "Avent" range. I particularly like the fact that it comes with a battery pack so you can move around easily. We've now bought 2 sets of rechargable batteries and I just use the battery pack and swop the batteries over between the pump and the battery charger when required.
I agree with other reviewers that it isn't as powerful as the hospital pumps are - but then it doesn't cost the hundreds of pounds that they cost either, and it's certainly been fine for me and a lot better than killing your hand muscles trying to do it all manually! Having said that the fact that it DOES come with manual attachments has been good for emergencies (like the two times when I broke the motor trying to detach it) and for the time we had a powercut AND couldn't find any batteries in the house...

I was apprehensive spending so much on a product and not even knowing if it would work correctly or if I would like it. I looked over so many reviews and realized every breast pump out there has positive and negative reviews. Well, I have used this pump many times and quite like it. It is easy to use and easy to clean. I like that I can pump directly into bottles.
My one gripe would be that I found the directions to be confusing. Once I took the pump apart to wash it, I couldn't figure out how to put it back together. It took my husband and I a good bit of time to figure it out. But, once we figured it out, I easily take it apart and put it back together. |

| this is a great product i used it for 6 months when i had my daughter. it was possible to get 4oz of milk in about 20 minutes. the speed settings are great too allows you to select your own speed which i found really helpful as i had some pain in the early days so was able to set it really slow to start with. i have talked to other people since who have preferred the medela range of pumps. but i have found no fault with the phiips one. and their after care service is superb. my husband was sterilising the pump by boiling it in hot water and accidentally melted all the plastic parts which philips replaced free of charge. this is great value for your money |

This is genious! even though my baby decided he wasnt going to breast feed! It was excellent for reliefing yourself of milk. Very smart product - learns to copy your pumping method, so its like the ultimate lazy boy chair - it does everything while you relax!
