The wii: the cosole at the top

Review Date: February 28, 2010
Reviewer: R. Sleight, UK
This reviw may be biast but it will be true. This is the simple fact so many people claim that the wii is a family console with no decent games rubbish graphics and overpriced. These are the people that sit at home on their xboxs and ps3s slowly developing damadged thumbs. The fact is that the wii took its time it started of with ALOT of family games with lets face it poor graphics. But in amongst theese were gems of the gaming world that even big xbx and ps3 titles like oblivion could not match im talking about games like zelda twillight princess which without doubt is one of the best adventure games and games ever made. There was super mario galaxy which pushed the boundrys of gamers imagination to the limit with its science and originality. Its games like this and not games like call of duty which have about as much imaginaton as the word pathetic spelled wrong and last ten hours and then are carted of to be traded in at game. There was okami one of the most special beautiful and original games out there which was all the better for being ported to the wii. These were the games which deserved awards that deserved to bee played and even loved as much as literacy classics (okami especialy). However these days it has to bee ten hour consumer games with no thought or imagination from anyone. However there will still be this problem of graphics so ok this is not were I fail this is were i prove all you closed minded xbx and ps3 players wrong. I do not happen to think that graphics make a game but for all thoose who do the wii has more than enough games with graphical brilliance. The thing is while all the xbx and ps3 games have amazing graphics the wii has them on the games that count the games that deserve to be played. I will start with some of the games out there. Metroid Prime 3 corruption. This game has stunning graphics easily equal to the xbx and ps3 and if you dont belive me watch a video. Okami wich i mentioned earlier is a beautiful game with the visuals made to look like traditional japanese artwork. And although those two are probalbly the top looking games on wii there are other gems out there like super smash bros brawl for example(incidenatly the greatest fighter ever on any console!). Now more games later but the thing that realy gets to me is that peolpe say the wii does not have "next generation graphics" but what they are comparing that to is all they have heard about on the wii and all they have seen on the xbx and ps3. The thing is the wii is a next gen console and has been and still is the most popular though xbx and ps3 owners will boastingly tell you otherwise. If people look at the ps2s graphics they are good but not as good as 360 or ps3 graphics. However they are also not as good as the wiis graphics so if the wii is a next gen console and if its graphics are better which they are than the ps2s it follows that the wii has "next gen graphics". Theat was just a little point I wa sproving but back to the comparison with 360 and ps3 graphics and i will also mentionb games here too. This year coming has some of tthe greatest games ever seen on a cosole and what console are they coming on, the wii all of us wii owners said the wiis year was coming and it truly has. The xbx and ps3 have nothing to match it as all there eforts came previosly admittedly halo reach looks awsome but thats about it where as in comparison ninteno(wii and ds) have Mario Galaxy 2, Okamiden, Monster hunter 3, Phantasy star zero, Metroid other m, golden sun news of the new wii zelda and many more finnaly the gaming world will really see what the nintendo masterminds are capable of that is if there not to busy drooling over the next call of duty. Back to the graphics then two of the games I mentioned monster hunter 3 and metroid other m have graphics which any 360 or ps3 owner would bee proud of and im not just saying that look at the videos and you will see. I play all the games I cant get on wii on muyt pc so i know what hte 360 and ps3 graphics are like and really to be honest i dont care graphics dont make a game and never will it all comes down to the imaginaton that went into it and the enjoyment that came out of it and nothing else. That is what is already in alot of the wiis games and what is coming in many more this 2010. And for thoose of you who it just has to bee about graphics well this 2010 theyve got graphics too. In this review i did not even metion any of the wii distinguishing features take my word there brilliant and thats all there is to it(ironically the console with the fewest shooters has the controls suited best to them)instead what I did wa stell you the truth abut what the wii is capable of and waht it will do and not just boast that it is the best just because I have one just like so many xbx and ps3 owners do. So dont listen to the rumors the jibes or the pathetic abuse that comes from the graphic obsessed idiots with ruined thumbs. Look at the facts of the little white box. The best seller the most popular and thets be honest. THE CONSOLE AT THE TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
terrible

terrible.

the selection of games is terrible and the graphics are a joke - this console has the power of a cardboard box.

its an embarassment and more like a 'fisher price' product than a games console.

buy a ps3/360 instead
Very good product

The game wii resort its ok but is better to play with another one persone or more. If you have to play alone is a little bit borred at the end but its ok.

Product Description

In a nutshell:
As if the idea of five games in one package didn't sound a good enough deal on its own the Wii's best multiplayer compendium comes free with the console.

The lowdown:
Clearly realising that they need to provide some quick and obvious reasons why the Wii Remote is such a good idea Nintendo have packed in this compilation with the console, which includes simple versions of tennis, golf, baseball, bowling and boxing. The four player tennis game is the obvious stand out as you swing the Remote exactly as you would a real tennis racket, with the game seeming to almost magically interpret your movements into the game. All the other games work in a similar way, as you hold the Remote like a golf club or ready it like a baseball bat - you can even use it to gently roll bowling bowls and add some subtle aftertouch. The graphics make be purposefully basic but these are the games to instantly prove why the Wii is going to be such a revolution.

Most exciting moment:
While even Wii Tennis can be played with very minor movements of the Wii Remote the boxing game actively encourages you to act things out properly. You hold up both the Remote and the nunchuck to simulate your two hands and then duck and weave as you switch between trying to pummel your opponent and dodging or blocking their own attacks.

Since you ask:
You can use your own customised Mii Channel character in any of the games for that personal touch. The idea was originally just a joke featuring caricatures of Nintendo's top brass for a press conference, but it proved so popular that Nintendo ensured anyone could make their own character to play with.

The bottom line:
Five of the best games on the Wii and they all come free with the console!-HARRISON DENT
