I used to own a Philips sonic brush and decided to "jump the fence" and pass to Oral-B when it died.
The most important feature of a toothbrush, obviously, is how well you can clean your teeth and with what effort. In this sense, I'm pleased with the Oral-B 9900.
I mostly use floss-action heads and that works quite well for me.
This said, I can't help but compare the brush head with the one of Philips': Oral-B's is definitely bigger and it took some time to get use to for my kids. Philips' heads are smaller than a regular toothbrush, while Oral-B's are larger. Not a big issue for me but if you're buying this to help your kids getting a good dental hygiene, I suggest you look at the Sonic brand instead.
Another downside is the battery life: I am always careful with rechargeable batteries and try to keep good care of them; despite all that, the battery life is short: every 2, 3 days I need to charge it back (3 people use it regularly). It's not "bad", but not great either.
The SmartGuide works as advertised, but after a few days of use, we ignore it. It's handy at times as a clock, and it does warn you when it's time to toss the toothbrush you're using (a feature that I did not have on the Philips', and that I find quite handy).
Am I glad I switched from Philips? Yes, because now I know both and because I think it is useful to change brushing style every now and then. When the Oral-B breaks, there's a good chance I'll go back to Philips. |

Although less comfortable to use and noisier than an ultrasonic brush (e.g. Sonicare) it seems to clean more thoroughly and quickly. The remote "SmartGuide" unit is useful but hardly essential. It is also (having no threads or recesses) easier to keep clean than the Sonicare
No reliability problems so far, but it needs to be recharged at least once a week for best performance.
Replacement brush heads (in a multiplicity of types) are available everywhere at very reasonable cost, unlike the Sonicare ones.
The double-head type brush (not included in the kit, but available separately) speeds brushing even more and is recommended. |

| this electric toothbrush is very good. having used braun before, it comes highly recommended and with the timer in full view it helps make life a bit easier! |

I fnd the Braun Tothbrush to be great.
THe head provided are a bit harsh, but we have both found one more sutable to us.
The wall unit is relitively usfull, in that it only deal in each quater of the mouth rather telling to do the tops, inside and outside of your teath.
However great to know that I am brushing for more than 2 mins. Plus a clock in the bathroom is most usefull.

| I purchased it before 3 weeks. Works great. My teeth feel great. Battery lasts at least a week. It gives you a great feeling after brushing your teeth. |
