Product Description |
| Jump start your training with Forerunner 50. This sleek sports watch is ideal for running, cycling and other fitness activities, and is available with a wireless heart rate monitor or foot pod or both. Plus it automatically transmits workouts to your computer so you can analyze, store and share data using our online community, Garmin Connect.
Get the Data You Need
Train inside or outdoors. The affordable Forerunner 50 provides you with instant workout data including training time, pace, distance, lap pace, lap time, lap distance, average and best pace, calories, maximum and average heart rate. It also records both lap and detailed data.
Listen to Your Heart
Forerunner 50 with wireless heart rate effectively tracks and records your heart rate while you work out, providing instant feedback about how hard your heart is working. The included digital heart rate monitor continuously tracks heart beats per minute which is wirelessly transmitted to the Forerunner 50. Even train in a certain heart rate zone to improve your fitness level. And well after your workout is done, Forerunner 50 is still working, wirelessly transmitting your training data to your PC.
Get Speed and Distance
With Garmin's optional wireless foot pod the Forerunner 50 lets you track your running speed, distance and calories burned while on the treadmill or pavement. Just snap the foot pod into a clip on your shoe laces, and it?s ready to send data to Forerunner 50 as soon as you start moving. After your workout, Forerunner 50 automatically transfers your data to your computer when within range.
Track Your Ride
When paired with an optional speed/cadence sensor, Forerunner 50 tracks the speed and distance of your cycling workouts. The wireless speed/cadence sensor attaches securely to your bike and measures your pedaling cadence and wheel speed as you ride. You can even use it to train indoors because the sensor attaches to your rear wheel.

| Looked at all the available heart monitors and found this to be the best value for your money. Read several reviews with issues with the buttons on the watch being pressed whilst wearing it, never had this happen yet. |
Battery Problems

I purchased this watch in February 2009. Initially it worked fine though I thought the display was a bit dull. However, after about 8 months the battery failed. I had the battery replaced by a high street watch dealer but the new one only lasted two weeks. I took the watch back to the battery shop and they replaced the battery again free of charge. However, this second battery also only lasted about a fortnight. The manual indicates that the battery should last over 12 months. Looking at some other reviews I note that battery problems crop up quite frequently. I have now returned the watch.
It's a nice watch and has a number of useful functions but it's of no use if the battery keeps failing. |

I agree with most of the positive reviews above, but I had a problem nearly 1 year after purchase. I had no receipt, just Amazon order number. I initially received a replacement monitor, then replacement watch, all free of charge, and with extensive and helpful email support from Jamie in Garmin. All it cost me was postage to Garmin.
So for follow up after sales service, Wonderful. Thank you. |
Great...when the battery works!

A great watch that does what it says on the tin until...3 months of semi-regular use (2-3 week max) the LOW Battery message appeared. It would not go away and now the watch has died on me.
Investing in a 310XT now as understanding that you get what you pay for.
Would not recommend buying this product unless you want to use it once before throwing it away. |

| I bought the Forerunner 50 last October and the battery life lasted less than 6 months and when replaced lasted 1 day Garmin said to return as unit faulty- returned it to Garmin for a replacement. The battery on that lasted 3 months and when replaced same fault. This coupled with badly positioned buttons means I am going back to Polar. |
